Air Lease Corporation Places Three New Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners With Air Astana

Air Lease Corporation has placed three New Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on long-term lease with Air Astana, the national flag carrier of Kazakhstan. The aircraft will be delivered from early 2025 through spring 2026 from ALC’s orderbook with Boeing.

On Friday (November 11, 2022), Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced the placement of three new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on long-term lease with Air Astana, the national carrier of Kazakhstan. The aircraft will be delivered to the airline from early 2025 through spring 2026 from ALC’s orderbook with Boeing.


In Friday’s announcement, Air Lease Corporation’s Executive Chairman, Steven Udvar-Házy, said,


“We are pleased to announce this lease placement for three new Boeing 787-9 aircraft with Air Astana today. These three ALC Dreamliner aircraft will greatly enhance Air Astana’s long-range capabilities and passenger comfort as the airline expands international routes from Kazakhstan.”

Also commenting on the 787-9 lease placements, ALC’s Executive Vice President, Alex Khatibi, said,


“ALC is honored to announce this lease placement with longtime customer, Air Astana, and be a part of the airline’s fleet modernization program by adding three highly efficient new Boeing 787-9 aircraft to Air Astana’s fleet.”


Air Astana’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Foster, added,


“The Boeing 787-9 is an important aircraft to Air Astana’s fleet modernization as we expand our routes and focus on passenger experience. The Dreamliner offers fuel-efficiency and range flexibility that will greatly add to our current fleet operations.”


Established in 2002, Air Astana is the national flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and parent company of LCC FlyArystan, founded in 2019. Combined, the airlines serve 64 domestic and international destinations with a fleet of 40 modern aircraft with an average age of 5.2 years. During 2020, Air Astana retired their Boeing 757 and Embraer 190 fleets and now exclusively operates Airbus A320/321 Family, A321LRs and late model Boeing 767s on major international routes. The company employs over 5,000 team members, mostly from Kazakhstan, along with experienced foreign personnel.
