On Thursday (August 7, 2025), Air France-KLM announced the launch of the ‘Short Connection Pass’, the latest initiative in their ‘Connect France’ partnership with Group ADP.  Short Connection Pass is a system for prioritizing customers in transit in Paris according to the time they have to make their connection.  Each day, Air France carries up to 140,000 customers, with nearly half connecting via their Charles de Gaulle hub.  Groupe ADP has established a dedicated route to facilitate their transit through the airport, which has recently been equipped with redesigned multilingual signage.  Although Air France’s flight schedules have been optimized to allow customers and their baggage to successfully connect between flights, there are a variety of circumstances that can reduce the time customers have to change aircraft.

Thursday’s announcement, Air France’s EVP – Operations and Cargo, Alain-Hervé Bernard, said,

Supporting our customers and facilitating their journey is a priority.  Air France’s hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle is already the most powerful in Europe in terms of the number of connecting opportunities offered.  Thanks to this joint initiative with Groupe ADP, we are giving ourselves the means to strengthen its attractiveness and reaffirm our desire to make Paris-Charles de Gaulle one of the world's largest hubs.”

Also commenting on the launch of the ‘Short Connection Pass’, Paris-Charles de Gaulle’s Director, Regis Lacote, added,

One month after the signing of Connect France, this scheme fully illustrates our common desire, with Air France-KLM, to make passenger journeys more fluid and to make Paris-Charles de Gaulle an ever more efficient and attractive hub.  The Short Connection Pass, which is simple for the passenger and operationally efficient, is a concrete step forward in the service of our passengers' experience.”

Now, when a connection time falls below a certain threshold, priority processing is automatically triggered for the customers concerned, without them having to request it.  The Short Connection Pass initiative aims to reduce passenger transit time as much as possible, with the goal of having them reach their boarding gate within the allotted time.

The system is based on a real-time exchange of information between Air France, Groupe ADP and their host service provider.  Data Points used to drive the Short Connection Pass include estimated travel time through the airport, the time needed to carry out security checks and border police formalities and the waiting time at these checks, and the updated departure time of the next flight.
