On Wednesday (November 9, 2022), Lufthansa Cargo announced the appointment of Katharina Prost as AeroLogic’s new Managing Director responsible for Finance and Administration. AeroLogic is a joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo. Ms. Prost previously served as Managing Director for Aeromar, a joint venture between Aeroflot and LSG SkyChefs in Russia. In her new role, Prost succeeds Martin Hirsch, who has joined Austrian Airlines as Head of Finance in June. Aerologic has also extended a contract with Joe Moser, Managing Director and Accountable Manager, who will remain active in this role, which he has held since 2017.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo’s Chairman and CEO, Dorothea von Boxberg, said,

“With Katharina Prost, we have been able to win an experienced manager for AeroLogic and welcome her warmly. We are also pleased to continue the very good cooperation with Joe Moser. We can now look back on fifteen years of the joint venture and are very proud of what we have achieved together: safe and reliable flight operations and steady growth in the fleet by both partners. In the future, we will continue to rely on the good cooperation in the joint venture and an excellent offer for our customers.”

Also commenting on Katharina Prost’s appointment, DHL Express’ EVP – Global Network Operations and Aviation, Travis Cobb, added,

“We warmly welcome Katharina Prost to AeroLogic. She brings a wealth of valuable experience and perspective. At the same time, we are delighted that Joe Moser has agreed to extend his appointment. It provides AeroLogic with both stability and continuity, and sets it up for further growth.”

Established in 2007, with operations beginning in summer 2009, Leipzig-based Aerologic is a joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo. Currently, Lufthansa Cargo markets the capacities of 16 Boeing 777F Freighters, of which five are chartered from Aerologic. They are also operated by AeroLogic crews under Lufthansa Cargo flight numbers. AeroLogic owns a total fleet of 21 Boeing 777F aircraft.

With revenue of €3.8 billion and 7.2 billion freight ton kilometers in 2021, Lufthansa Cargo is one of the world’s leading air freight companies, employing approximately 4,200 team members worldwide. The cargo carrier serves around 300 destinations in over 100 countries with a dedicated fleet of freighters, as well as belly-hold cargo capacity of passenger aircraft operated by Lufthansa German Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings Discover and SunExpress.

In 2021, the company reached important milestones such as a fleet modernization to an all Boeing 777F fleet, and the introduction of CO2 neutral freight transport for all customers. In 2022, the airline will equip their fleet of dedicated freighters with Sharkskin technology to reduce drag, and expand their SAF program to further reduce CO2 emissions. The company also operates an extensive road feeder service network. Lufthansa Cargo is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and is the Group’s logistics specialist.
