Aeroflot announced on Monday the launch of direct flights from Moscow to Orsk and Penza. Situated in the south of Orenburg Oblast, Orsk is close to the border with Kazakhstan, while Penza is a major city in the central Volga region.
On Monday (July 2020), Russian flag carrier Aeroflot announced the launch of direct flight from Moscow to Orsk and Penza. Located south of Orenburg Oblast, close to the Russian border with Kazakhstan, Orsk is on the banks of the Ural river, which divides the European and Asian continents. The city is famous for its deposits of colorful jasper, which was used to decorate the interior of the Winter Palace (the Hermitage), as well as the Moscow Metro. Orsk is home to numerous notable monuments including Russian Orthodox, Muslim and Catholic complexes, along with the Local History Museum.
Penza is a major city in the Volga region which features the unique Museum of One Painting as well as the museum-theatre of actor-director Vsevolod Meyerhold. Penza is also home to one of Russia’s oldest botanical gardens and was the site of the country’s first circus. The city is often associated with famous Russian figures including Mikhail Lermontov, Vissarion Belinsky and Vasily Klyuchevsky.
