AerCap Signs Lease Agreements With ITA Airways for 10 New Airbus A320neos and Two A330neos

AerCap Holdings has signed lease agreements with ITA Airways for 12 new aircraft including 10 Airbus A320neos and two Airbus A330neos. The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered beginning in 2023 through 2024.

On Friday (April 1, 2022), AerCap Holdings N.V. announced the signing of lease agreements with Italian national carrier ITA Airways for 12 new aircraft including 10 Airbus A320neos and two Airbus A330neos for deliveries from 2023-2024. The new aircraft are part of ITA’s fleet renewal and modernization plan.


In today’s announcement, AerCap’s Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Anderson, said,


“We are very pleased to expand our relationship with ITA Airways through the lease of these twelve advanced-technology Airbus A320neo and A330neo aircraft. These aircraft will enable ITA Airways to expand its network, whilst advancing its commitment to maintain an environmentally friendly, fuel-efficient fleet. We thank the team at ITA Airways for the confidence they have placed in AerCap, and we look forward to building the partnership for many years to come.”


Also commenting on the new lease agreements, ITA Airways’ Chief Technology Officer, Francesco Presicce, said,


“The integration of these new aircraft is perfectly in line with the Company's fleet plan. This agreement represents a further step in our strategy of building a new environmental-friendly fleet with leading-edge technologies which will optimize efficiency, quality of service and significantly reduce the environmental impact. Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA Airways) was founded in November 2020 and is the new Italian national carrier wholly-owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. Commencing operations in October 2021, the carrier currently has a fleet of 45 narrowbody and seven widebody aircraft, including 18 Airbus A319s, 27 A320s and seven A330s. During 2022, ITA Airways’ fleet will grow to 78 aircraft, increasing to 105 aircraft by the end of 2025 (82 narrowbody aircraft and 23 widebodies).
