On Thursday (October 28, 2021), Aer Lingus revealed their summer 2022 flying program which will include service on 71 routes to 62 destinations, including 16 transatlantic routes. The Irish carrier will build on their strong Christmas schedule, incrementally building capacity in the lead up to the summer 2022 holiday season. A September 2021 survey by Aer Lingus indicates that 65 percent of Irish adults are planning to travel internationally in 2022. Additionally, Aer Lingus has extended their market-leading ‘Book with Confidence’ policy through September 30th, 2022. The policy offers customers unlimited free travel date changes up to seven days prior to departure (a fare difference may apply).

In Thursday’s announcement, Aer Lingus’ Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, Reid Moody, said,

“This is an ambitious schedule for Summer 2022 and an important step for the airline, and the country, as we reconnect Ireland to the world. We know from our customer research that Irish people are very keen to get back flying, and we certainly are looking forward to welcoming them on board again. Month by month, we can see more and more people taking to the skies again. We’re confident that the demand is there for travel next year, and that is reflected in our announcement today.

“We can assure everyone that we continue to deploy all of our health and safety measures from check-in through to boarding, and on-board the aircraft. We are also delighted to announce the extension of our market-leading book with confidence policy, giving customers the option to change flights for free up to seven days before they fly.”

After 18 months of travel restrictions, Aer Lingus will resume direct flights to North America with service to New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Seattle, and Philadelphia, with one-way fares from €169 including taxes and charges. The carrier will also reintroduce flights from Shannon in March 2022, with 14 weekly flights to New York-JFK and Boston.

As an aside, Aer Lingus also welcomes the return of US College Football the Aviva Stadium as the Northwestern Wildcats and Nebraska Cornhuskers compete in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

The carrier will also serve London Heathrow from Shannon and Belfast, as well as Gatwick from Knock.
