WestJet announced Monday the completion of their inaugural flight from Toronto to the snorkeling and diving paradise of Roatán Honduras which took place Sunday. Late last week, the airline also announced seasonal Calgary-Boston service.
WestJet announced today the completion of their inaugural flight from Toronto to Roatán, Honduras which was completed on Sunday. The route will be operated with a Boeing 737NG configured with Premium and Economy Class cabins. The new offering is in addition to 14 Caribbean destinations available non-stop from Toronto this winter. In Monday’s announcement, WestJet’s Chief Commercial Officer, Arved von zur Muehlen said,
“With our new seasonal non-stop service guests can now enjoy a superior travel experience when flying to this Caribbean paradise. These flights strengthen tourism ties and are a win for leisure travelers looking to explore Roatán’s beautiful barrier reefs and white sand beaches.”
WestJet's new service has been timed to optimize connections through WestJet’s Toronto Hub. The once weekly service to Roatán will operate on Sundays, with a 9:30AM departure, arriving Roatán at 1:11PM. The return flight departs Roatán at 2:10PM, arriving Toronto at 7:27PM.
Last week, WestJet also announced new daily seasonal non-stop service from Calgary to Boston, starting May 14, 2020. With the new service, Western Canadians can now enjoy 19 non-stop U.S. destinations from Calgary for the summer 2020 season. In last weeks announcement, Mr. von zur Muehlen said,
“Fantastic routes need fantastic schedules and WestJet is offering guests convenient flight times between our extensive hub out of Calgary and the capital of Massachusetts. While other carriers may fly the route, WestJet continues to build our schedule for the region’s business and leisure travelers. It’s never been easier to explore and do business in Calgary, Boston and beyond.”
The Calgary-Boston route will be operated daily with the flight departing Calgary at 9:45AM and arriving in Boston at 4:15PM. The return flight departs Boston at 5:00PM, arriving Calgary at 8:15PM. WestJet offers the most departures, destinations and seats from Calgary and from May 2020 will offer service to 19 U.S. destinations including Atlanta, Portland, Austin, Los Angeles, Houston, Phoenix and Palm Springs.
