Starting May 13, 2024, Virgin Atlantic will launch new daily service between London Heathrow and São Paulo, Brazil. The route will be operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring 31 Upper Class, 35 Premium and 192 Economy Class seats.
On Monday (June 5, 2023), Virgin Atlantic announced the launch of new daily service between London Heathrow (LHR) and São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) in Brazil starting May 13, 2024. The route will be operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring 31 Upper Class, 35 Premium and 192 Economy Class seats. The 11 hour and 55 minute flight will be Virgin Atlantic’s first-ever service to South America. Celebrating the new route, the carrier has created a one-off samba style safety video starring famed dancer and choreographer, AJ Pritchard, and Brazilian model and actress, Juliana Paes, and includes a cameo by TV sensation Anton Du Beke as the plane’s pilot.

In Monday’s announcement, Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen, said,
“Flying to Sao Paulo, Brazil represents so much more than just a new route. It’s the gateway to South America and signifies exciting new growth for Virgin Atlantic. After our plans to launch a route to Sao Paulo were scuppered by the pandemic, we’re so excited to be able to finally provide our customers with an opportunity to explore a fantastic new continent that is buzzing with adventure.”
From summer 2024, the carrier will also launch will also expand their offer to India with new daily service between London Heathrow and Bengaluru (Bangalore). The new route marks the carrier’s third destination and fourth daily frequency to India.
