Starting March 31, 2024, Avianca will launch new service between Bogotá and Montréal. The route will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with a 180-seat Airbus A320.
On Wednesday (January 10, 2024), Avianca announced the launch of new service between Bogotá (BOG) and Montréal Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in Canada. Starting March 31, 2024, the route will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with a 180-seat Airbus A320 for a total of 1,200 weekly seats. Flight AV200 will depart Bogotá at 14:20 and arrive in Montréal at 22:05, while the return flight, AV201, will depart Montréal at 23:25 and will touch down in Bogotá at 04:39+1 (all times local).
In Wednesday’s route announcement, Avianca’s Director of Sales – North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, Rolando Damas, said,
“We arrived in Canada just over two years ago with our operation to Toronto, and today we are delighted to announce Avianca's upcoming arrival in Montréal at the end of March as the second destination in the country. Currently, more than 120,000 Colombians live in Canada, and over 20,000 Canadian residents visit Colombia each year. Undoubtedly, this new route will facilitate greater connections for tourists, students, and businesses between the two countries.”
Also commenting on the new route launch, ADM Aéroports de Montréal’s Vice President – Airport Operations and Air Services Development, Stéphane Lapierre, added,
“ADM Aéroports de Montréal is delighted to welcome the world’s second oldest airline to YUL for the first time. With the addition of avianca to the list of airlines operating at YUL, our passengers will have the opportunity to board a flight that will take them directly to Bogotá, offering them additional access to South and Central America. For an international airport like ours, this is great news, especially as this route will offer arrivals and departures at less busy times of the day, which fits perfectly with one of our recent strategies for developing our air services. It’s a great announcement to get 2024 off to a good start.”
Avianca first arrived in Canada in December 2021, with the inauguration of routes from both Bogotá and San Salvador to Toronto. Since that time, the carrier has transported approximately 350,000 passengers on over 2,800 flights between Colombia and Canada. Tickets on the new Bogotá-Montréal route are now bookable across all distribution channels.
Founded in 1919, Avianca operates the largest network in Colombia, and one of the largest in Latin America with 130 routes and over 3,800 weekly flights, connecting guests to around 70 destinations in the Americas and Europe. The carrier has over 12,000 team members and operates a fleet of 130 Airbus A320 Family and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Avianca Cargo also serves over 70 destinations with a fleet of dedicated Airbus A330 Freighters, along with passenger aircraft belly-hold space.
