Wizz Air Abu Dhabi to Commence Operations in Abu Dhabi on Friday

The inaugural flight will take place tomorrow between Abu Dhabi and Athens and to mark the occasion, Wizz Air’s Founder and Chairman, József Váradi will be on hand. The airline will also launch service to Thessaloniki from February 4, 2021.

On Thursday (January 14, 2021), Wizz Air announced that their new carrier, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi on Friday with an inaugural flight to Athens. To celebrate the carrier’s launch, company Founder and Chairman, József Váradi has traveled to Abu Dhabi. The carrier will also launch service to Thessaloniki, Greece starting February 4, 2021 and plans on eventually offering flights to Alexandria, Kutaisi, Larnaca, Odesa and Yerevan. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s fleet includes four brand new Airbus A321neos, offering the friendliest environmental footprint in the region. In Thursday’s announcement, Wizz Air’s Founder and Chairman, József Váradi, said,
“The launch of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi recognizes Abu Dhabi as a bold new frontier for ultra-low fare travel in the region. We most welcome the opportunity to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s efforts to provide a new segment of travel in the UAE in line with its socio-economic vision. We are looking forward to working in strategic partnership with our stakeholders in Abu Dhabi for the benefits of the country by opening up new travel options for residents and tourists.”
Budapest, Hungary-based Wizz Air serves 155 destinations across 45 countries and operates an all Airbus fleet of 134 A320 and A320/21neo Family aircraft, with an average age of five years. Wizz Air is the largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in Central and Eastern Europe offering over 710 routes from 38 bases. During FY 20 (ending March 31, 2020), the airline served approximately 40 million guests. Wizz Air offers superior guest service at exceptionally low fares and trades on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol WIZZ.
