Virgin Atlantic Announces New Service From London Heathrow to Cape Town, South Africa

Virgin Atlantic announced on Tuesday new service between London-Heathrow and Cape Town, South Africa from October 25, 2020. The new route will complement the airline’s existing daily service to Johannesburg and will be operated with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Yesterday, Virgin Atlantic announced new service from London-Heathrow to Cape Town, South Africa starting October 25, 2019. The new route will be operated with a state-of-the art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and will complement the carrier’s existing daily Heathrow-Johannesburg service. In Tuesday’s announcement, Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen said,


“2020 is an extremely exciting year of continued growth for Virgin Atlantic. Not only are we launching a new service to Sao Paulo in March, but we’re delighted to announce a new seasonal service to Cape Town offering more choice for our customers than ever before. We’re delighted to be flying to Cape Town again – we’re expecting a high proportion of leisure travellers on this route taking advantage of the winter sun, the safaris and of course, the world-famous wine region.”


The departing flight from Heathrow (VS478) will operate as a night flight, taking off at 4:20PM and arriving in Cape Town at 5:55AM the next morning. The return flight (VS479) departs Cape Town at 8:00AM and arrives in London at 6:00PM the same day. Return Economy fares start at £713 per person and tickets will be on sale starting February 18, 2020.
