SkyTeam Appoints Aeromexico’s CEO, Andrés Conesa as Chairman of the Alliance Board

SkyTeam has announced the appointment of Andrés Conesa, CEO of Aeromexico, as the Alliance’s new Chairman of the Board. The appointment was endorsed on Sunday at a meeting of the alliance’s board in Istanbul.

On Sunday (June 4, 2023), SkyTeam announced the appointment of Aeromexico’s CEO, Andrés Conesa, as the alliance’s new Chairman of the Board. The appointment was endorsed on Sunday by the SkyTeam Alliance Board, composed of member airlines’ CEOs, at a meeting in Istanbul, Türkiye. Dr. Conesa has led Aeromexico, a founding SkyTeam member, since 2005. In his new role, he will work with SkyTeam’s CEO, Patrick Roux, and senior leaders from member airlines to determine the alliance’s strategic priorities. Andrés Conesa succeeds Korean Air’s Chairman and CEO, Walter Cho, who has served as SkyTeam’s Chairman since 2019.

In Sunday’s announcement, SkyTeam’s CEO, Patrick Roux, said,


“As SkyTeam and its members look to the future, Andrés will help guide our strategic focus as we chart a path to greater sustainability and industry-leading technology to strengthen our core promise of delivering a seamless customer experience. We would like to thank Walter for his tenure as SkyTeam CEO, during which he helped steer our alliance through the pandemic towards a future of greater sustainability for air travel.”


Also commenting on his new role as SkyTeam’s new Chairman of the Board, Dr. Andrés Conesa, said,


“I am honoured to take on this new challenge. As a founding airline, Aeromexico is proud of SkyTeam's growth over its 23-year history. Our industry shares a common goal, and we must do our part to adhere and implement best practices to bring the SkyTeam alliance to new heights, always customer-centric, technology-driven, and with a sustainable mindset.”
