PJSC Aeroflot Board of Directors Elects Mikhail Poluboyarinov as New CEO

Mr. Poluboyarinov served as CEO of State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) prior to today’s appointment as Aeroflot’s Chief Executive Officer. Since 2017, he has served as a Board Member of PJSC Aeroflot and has many years of executive-level experience.

On Friday (November 20, 2020), Aeroflot announced the election of Mikhail Poluboyarinov by the Board of Directors as the airline’s new Chief Executive Officer. Prior to today’s appointment, Mr. Poluboyarinov served as the CEO of the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK). He has also served on PJSC Aeroflot’s board since 2017 and has extensive executive-level experience at the company including financial management.


Mikhail Poluboyarinov (54) was born in Moscow and graduated from the Moscow Finance Institute with a degree in Finance and Credit in 1998. He then graduated with a PhD in Economics, majoring in Finance, Currency Circulation and Credit, from the Plekhanov Russian Academy of Economics in 1998.

Mr. Poluboyarinov served as Chief Accountant and Financial Director at Avtoimport from 1990-1998 as well as Chief Accountant and Deputy CEO of PJSC Aeroflot between 2000 and 2009. From 2009-2020, he served in various roles at VEB.RF (Russian State Development Corporation) in various roles including Director of Infrastructure Development, Deputy Chairman, First Deputy Chairman and Management Board Member. Between March 2020 and November 2020, Mr. Poluboyarinov served as the CEO of the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK).


Some of the prestigious honors held by Mr. Poluboyarinov include the title of ‘Honoured Economist of Russia’ and a Certificate of Honour of the Russian Ministry of Transport for his contribution to the XXII Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Sochi in 2014. Mikhail Poluboyarinov has also received the ‘Order of Honour’ as well as a decoration for ‘Merit in Development of the Far East.’

During 2019, Aeroflot carried 37.2 million guests and when the Aeroflot Group subsidiaries are included, the total rises to 60.7 million passengers. According to Cirium’s On-Time Performance Review, Aeroflot was the world’s most on-time mainline airline for 2019. The carrier has also received a five-star rating from OAG for flight punctuality. Brand Finance, a leading brand strategy consultancy, has declared Aeroflot the “world’s strongest airline brand.”
