Oman Air and Qatar Airways Expand Codeshare Partnership

The codeshare expansion will offer six additional points on the Oman Air network for Qatar Airways’ guests, while Oman Air’s guests will have access to 65 additional destinations on the Qatar Airways’ network.

On Sunday (December 27, 2020), Oman Air announced an expansion of their codeshare partnership with Qatar Airways. Through the expanded partnership Qatar Airways’ guests will have access to six addition points on the Oman Air network, while Oman Air’s customers will enjoy access to 65 additional destinations on the Qatar Airways network. The expanded codeshare is the first step in the strengthening of the partnership between the two Gulf carriers which began in 2000. Tickets one the new codeshared routes will be available for purchase in 2021. In Sunday’s announcement, Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Abdulaziz Al Raisi, said,


“We are delighted to expand our commercial cooperation with Qatar Airways, which will streamline flying for leisure travellers from around the world to enjoy Oman's culture, scenic beauty and hospitality, and facilitate travel for those who visit the Sultanate of Oman for abundant, fast-growing business opportunities across a diverse range of sectors. The expansion of our code-share agreement is just the first step, and we look forward to working with Qatar Airways to further strengthen our strategic partnership to enhance the business and leisure travel experience for our customers in Oman and throughout the world.”


Also commenting on the expanded codeshare partnership, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, added,

I look forward to further strengthening our commercial cooperation with Oman Air to provide even more benefits to our customers.”


Founded in 1993, Oman Air is the national flag carrier of the Sultanate of Oman and an official Skytrax 4 Star Airline (2011). In the Gulf region, the carrier operates direct international flights from Muscat to Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Medina and Kuwait. In the Middle East and Africa, the carrier offers service to Cairo, Amman, Casablanca, Tehran, Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and Nairobi. Oman Air also offers flights to eleven destinations in India as well Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Jakarta and Guangzhou. The airline's European network includes service to London, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Frankfurt, Paris, Zurich, Istanbul and Moscow. Domestically, the airline serves Salalah and Khasab, while seasonal flights are also offered to Athens, Alexandria, and Malé. Oman Air operates a fleet of nine Boeing 787s, ten Airbus A330s, 28 Boeing 737s and four Embraer E175s.


Qatar Airways is the national carrier of the state of Qatar and currently operates over 700 weekly flights to more than 100 destinations, providing more flexible travel options to more global destinations than any other airline. The carrier was named the ‘World’s Best Airline’ in the 2019 World Airline Awards managed by Skytrax as well as the ‘Best Airline in the Middle East,’ ‘World’s Best Business Class.’ Qatar Airways has also been awarded the title for ‘Best Business Class Seat’ in recognition of their ground-breaking Qsuite product which offers a spacious 1-2-1 seat layout. Additionally, the airline is the only carrier to have ever received the prestigious “Skytrax Airline of the Year” title five times. Qatar Airways normally serves over 170 global destinations with a fleet of more than 250 modern aircraft. The airline’s primary hub is located at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar.
