Mexicana de Aviación Orders 20 Embraer E2 Aircraft

Mexicana de Aviación, Mexico’s state-owned airline, has placed  a firm order for 10 Embraer E190-E2 and 10 E195-E2 jets for delivery from the second quarter of 2025.  The carrier will configure the E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft with 108 and 132seats, respectively.

On Monday (June 3, 2024), Embraer announced that Mexico’s state-owned airline, Mexicana de Aviación, has placed a firm order for 20 E2 Family jets, including 10 E190-E2s and 10 E195-E2s.  The aircraft will be configured in a single class layout with 108 and 132 seats, respectively, with deliveries scheduled to commence Q2 2025.  Mexicana will become the first E2 operator in Mexico, and will benefit from the aircraft’s low operating costs and fuel efficiency.


In Monday’s announcement, Embraer Commercial Aviation’s VP Sales and Marketing – Latin America, Priscilla Doro Solymossy, said,


“We welcome Mexicana to the E2 family, the first E2 operator in Mexico.  Seeing the success and rapid growth Mexicana has achieved since it restarted operations in December 2023 has been remarkable.  The airline is already flying to 18 destinations, and has transported more than 115,000 passengers, accumulating more than 3,280 flight hours in this short period, reflecting Mexicana’s commitment to operational excellence and customer service.”


Mexicana de Aviación is part  of the Olmeca-Maya­-Mexica S.A. de C.V. Airport Group, Railway, Auxiliary and Related Services.  The carrier restarted services in December 2023 with the purpose of improving air service quality and enhancing connectivity, while supporting growth, development and competitiveness.
