Iberia and Qatar Airways Expand Codeshare Destination Network

With the expanded codeshare partnership, Iberia customers will now enjoy seamless access to Qatar Airways’ routes to Angola, Australia, Mozambique, Qatar and South Africa, while Qatar Airways’ guests will enjoy service to 40 destinations in Iberia’s network.

On Thursday (January 21, 2021), Iberia announced and expansion of their codeshare partnership with Qatar Airways. With the expanded agreement Iberia’s customers will enjoy access to Qatar Airways’ network to destinations in Angola, Australia, Mozambique, New Zealand, Qatar and South Africa, while Qatar Airways’ guests will have seamless access to 40 destinations in Iberia’s network including service to Dakar, São Paulo, Santiago de Chile, San Salvador and Guatemala City. In total, Iberia will offer their customers access to 36 routes in 19 countries in codeshare with Qatar Airways. In Thursday’s announcement, Iberia’s Executive Director, Javier Sánchez-Prieto, said,


“The expansion of the codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways is very good news. At Iberia we work so that, once countries remove their restrictions, we can offer our clients a network of destinations that is a global as possible. Collaboration with our partner in the oneworld alliance makes it easier for us to reach new markets in Africa and Australia and improves connectivity we offer between Spain and the rest of the world, with a service of such high quality as the one that characterizes Qatar Airways.”


Also commenting on the expanded codeshare, Qatar Airways Group's Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, added,


“We are delighted to expand the codeshare collaboration with Iberia, the main Spanish Airline and one of the most prominent in the connection between Europe and Latin America. Despite the challenges of 2020, our priority has been to maintain attractive connectivity for our customers. Qatar and Iberia have been benefiting from this collaboration since 2017, which has given their clients greater flexibility in travel options and impeccable connectivity. As international traffic recovers, we hope to continue expanding our collaboration with Iberia, as well as continuing to offer our clients the 5-star service they expect.”


Both airlines are members of the oneworld® global alliance and Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Iberia Plus members will maintain status when flying either airline, with benefits including Premium Lounge access, increased baggage allowances and priority check-in and boarding.
