Gulf Air Welcomes Their New 70th Anniversary Edition Airbus A321neoLR

The national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain proudly welcomed their new Airbus A321neoLR today as it arrived at the new terminal of Bahrain International Airport. The aircraft features the carrier’s special 70th anniversary Gold falcon livery.

On Friday (February 5, 2021), Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, proudly welcomed their new Airbus A321neoLR as it arrived at the new terminal of Bahrain International Airport at approximately 06:40 local time. The aircraft features the carrier’s bespoke 70th anniversary Golden Falcon livery, showcasing the airline’s iconic and vintage design from the last century with a refreshed look. Following the aircraft’s delivery from the Airbus delivery center in Hamburg, the new A321neoLR will operate on long-haul European routes as well as to select GCC destinations. The aircraft is the second of 17 A321neos on order, eight of which are configured with 16 fully lie-flat bed seats.


In Friday’s announcement, Gulf Air’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, His Excellency, Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, said,


“We are delighted to welcome our newest aircraft, the Airbus A321neoLR into our fleet in its special 70th anniversary Golden Falcon livery. This addition will strengthen our position in the medium to long haul markets as it represents an upgraded product to offer best in class service to our passengers. The relationship that we have with Airbus is very strong and we continue to work closely with them to further develop our fleet and products to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.”


Gulf Air’s newest aircraft premiers 16 new flat-bed Falcon Gold seats and 150 economy class seats, all equipped with the latest inflight entertainment (IFE) technology with comfortable, practical and user-friendly features. The aircraft highlights Gulf Air’s overall boutique experience with the opportunity to provide more personalized service, a cozier cabin and faster boarding and deplaning processes. The aircraft is also equipped with Wi-Fi to keep Gulf Air’s guests connected throughout their journey.


The new A321neoLR is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and is the largest and most advanced A320neo Family aircraft currently available. Gulf Air’s newest aircraft features the widest single-aisle cabin on the market and offers a 20 percent reduction in fuel burn per seat, up to 14 percent lower operating costs and a 50 percent reduction noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft.


Founded in 1950, Gulf Air is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain and serves 49 cities in 27 countries. From its hub at Bahrain International Airport, the airline offers twice daily service to 10 or more regional cities as well as international flights to the Indian subcontinent and Europe. Gulf Air currently operates a modern fleet of 33 narrow and widebody aircraft and by 2023 their fleet will consist of 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, 12 Airbus A320neos and 17 Airbus A321neos.
