On Tuesday (October 19, 2021), flydubai announced the launch of new twice-weekly service to Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman from November 4, 2021. Sohar becomes the carrier’s third destination in Oman, complementing existing flights to Muscat and Salalah. Flights to Sohar International Airport (OHS) will depart from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Wednesdays and Fridays. Located on the Sultanate’s northern coast, Sohar is a port city with a rich cultural and trading heritage. Visitors can explore Sohar’s century-old fort and museum, or stroll along the waterfront and relax in one of the many restaurants. The city is also located close to some of Oman’s most popular ravines such as Wadi Al Jizi and Wadi Salahi, enjoyed by adventure seekers and outdoor enthusiasts from the region and beyond.

In Tuesday’s route announcement, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said,

“With demand for travel returning and as more countries continue to lift restrictions on international travel, we are pleased to announce the start of flights to Sohar in Oman. We are excited to further grow our network and give passengers more options to travel in the region, while welcoming passengers from Oman, especially those looking to visit Expo 2020 in Dubai.”

Also commenting on the new service to Sohar, flydubai’s SVP Commercial Operations – UAE, GCC, Subcontinent and Africa, Sudhir Sreedharan, said,

Flydubai guests booking a flight to Dubai will also enjoy a complimentary 1-Day ticket to visit Expo 2020 Dubai, which opened on October 1st and will operate through March 2022. Return Business Class fares between DXB and OHS start from AED 3,000 (US $817) and Economy Class fares start from AED 1,025 (US $279).
