The Dubai-based carrier will become the first UAE airline to offer direct flights to Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic in the Russian Federation. The twice-weekly service will commence on December 17, 2020.
On Wednesday (December 9, 2020), flydubai announced the launch of twice-weekly service between Dubai and Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic in the Russian Federation, starting December 17, 2020. Flydubai has operated flights to Russia since 2010 and offers guests from the UAE, with the combined flydubai and Emirates networks, seamless access to Moscow and other major Russian cities. Emirates will codeshare on this route offering travelers seamless connections via Dubai to 155 destinations in both airline’s networks. In Wednesday’s announcement, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said,
“Since commencing operations in 2009, we have been committed to opening up new routes to previously underserved markets to offer more people the opportunity to travel more often. As we continue to see more countries lifting restrictions on international travel and expect the demand for travel to increase during the winter holiday season, we are pleased to announce the start of flights to Grozny.”
Grozny is located on the Sunzha River and is the capital of the Chechen Republic. The city features modern architecture, shopping malls and major attractions such as the Grozny Central Dome Mosque. Also commenting on the new route, flydubai’s Senior Vice President – Commercial Operations and E-commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, added,
“Russia has always been an important market for flydubai. With the new direct route between Dubai and Grozny we continue to support the flow of travel, trade and tourism from previously underserved markets.”

Customers booking flights can choose between bundled (Flex/Value) or unbundled (Lite) fares to meet their travel needs.
Recently, flydubai introduced complimentary extended multi-risk insurance which includes COVID-19 cover, offering travelers greater peace of mind during their journey. Additionally, the carrier has partnered with Aster DM Healthcare and NMC Healthcare in the UAE to offer passengers PCR testing at special rates. To qualify for the discounted rates, customers must present a valid flydubai booking confirmation along with their Emirates ID or passport copy.
