The airline launched ‘Finnair Corona Cover’ today which provides extra protection for guests on all new and existing bookings for departures from November 3, 2020 through March 31, 2021. The insurance covers COVID-19 related medical and quarantine expenses.
On Tuesday (November 3, 2020), Finnair announced the launch of new complimentary COVID-19 coverage for guests departing Finland. The program, called ‘Finnair Corona Cover’ is effective immediately for all new and existing reservations for travel from November 3, 2020 and March 31, 2021. The insurance is complimentary with all Finnair tickets purchased through the airline’s sales channels including their website, mobile app and customer service center, for international travel departing Finland. Finnair Corona Cover offers extra peace of mind when traveling by providing COVID-19 related medical and quarantine coverage should a customer fall ill at their destination. The coverage will supplement the guest’s personal travel insurance. In Tuesday’s announcement, Finnair’s Vice President – Customer Experience and Products, said,
“It is important that Finnair customers feel they can travel safely as we recognize that travelling during the pandemic comes with new kinds of concerns and challenges. To meet the needs of our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, Finnair has introduced its complimentary Finnair Corona Cover. Now Finnair customers can enjoy the peace of mind and additional security which comes from Finnair Corona Cover, including cover for medical and quarantine expenses should those insured with us become sick with coronavirus while travelling.”
The insurance includes up to €50,000 in COVID-19 related medical expenses and medical repatriation as well as the price of a coronavirus test (if the result is positive) and quarantine costs of up to €100/day for a maximum of 14 days. Coverage also includes a return flight to Finland if the original return flight is missed due to COVID-19. The insurance is also included with Aurinkomatkat package trips and Finnair Holidays bookings for trips outside of Finland.
