On Tuesday, Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates announced they would be adding a fourth daily flight from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Etihad Airways announced today that starting December 8, 2019 they will add a fourth daily flight from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh. The new service will be operated by an Airbus A320 with 8 business and 150 economy seats. Etihad’s A320s have undergone a cabin refresh offering comfortable recliner seats in Business Class, while providing new ergonometric seating in Economy with USB charging points and personal device holders. Passengers can download Etihad’s “E-Box Stream” wireless entertainment system directly to their personal devices providing streaming access to over 300 hours of movies, TV, music and more. In today’s announcement, Etihad Aviation Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Robin Kamark stated,
“The introduction of the new fourth daily service to Riyadh is demonstrative of our commitment to the Saudi market, and of the increase in demand on this core route. This has been boosted by the warm relationship enjoyed by the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and by the recent easing of visa entry regulations for tourists entering the Kingdom.”
“Riyadh is a key market on our global network, and the additional service adds yet more attractive timings to both business and leisure travelers flying between both capitals, as well as more options for travelers connecting through Abu Dhabi onto Etihad’s global network. As Etihad and Saudia continue to strengthen their partnership, the new flight will also provide convenient options to our customers, allowing increased codeshare connectivity on joint services.”
Etihad and Saudia have an extensive codeshare agreement, sharing flight codes from Abu Dhabi to Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh and Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Etihad places its ‘EY’ code on Saudia flights to Peshawar, Multan, Port Sudan and Vienna. Likewise, Etihad places Saudia’s ‘SV’ code on flights from Abu Dhabi to Ahmedabad, Belgrade, Brisbane, Chengdu, Chicago, Dusseldorf, Lagos, Melbourne, Moscow-Domodedovo, Rabat Seychelles and Sydney.
Pending regulatory approvals, Saudia will also add its code to Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi to 11 more destinations including Amsterdam, Baku, Brussels, Dublin, Hong Kong, Kathmandu, Bankok, Phuket, Magoya, Tokyo and Seoul.
