Emirates Expands Flagship Airbus A380 Network as Travel Demand Returns

Emirates is expanding their flagship Airbus A380 network to additional destinations during October and November. By the end of November, the carrier will offer A380 service to 27 cities, a more than 65% increase versus current flagship service to 16 cities.

On Monday (September 27, 2021), Emirates announced an over 65 percent expansion of their Airbus A380 flagship service during October and November. The carrier will deploy their popular A380 super-jumbo service to 27 destinations, up from 16 currently served. Additionally, Emirates is on track to restore 70 percent of their pre-pandemic capacity by the end of 2021, an addition of over 280,000 seats across their global network. Over the next six weeks, the carrier will deploy the A380 to 11 additional destinations, including popular business and leisure gateways such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Johannesburg, Madrid, Milan, Riyadh, São Paulo and Zurich.


Additionally, Emirates will introduce first-ever A380 service to Istanbul on October 1st, 2021. Emirates is the world’s largest A380 operator and will have a fleet of 118 of the double-decker aircraft by the end of 2021, including six equipped with Premium Economy seats in a four class configuration. Emirates is also scaling up their global network to meet demand to Dubai as the highly-anticipated Expo Dubai 2020 will open on October 1st, 2021. The airline currently serves over 120 cities, approximately 90 percent of their pre-pandemic network.


Emirates’ popular Airbus A380 experience offers extra legroom, the largest IFE screens in the industry across all cabins, and an extensive selection of content on their award-winning ‘ice’ inflight entertainment system. The aircraft also boasts signature features such as the Onboard Lounge, and fully lie-flat seats in Business Class, as well as private suites and Shower Spas in First Class.
