On Sunday (October 3, 2021), Delta Air Lines announced a significant expansion at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) for spring and summer 2022. The airline will launch five new routes from Boston with service to Athens, Tel Aviv, Baltimore, Denver and San Diego, while introducing new Airbus A321neos, with the first flights out of Boston in spring 2022. By summer 2022, Delta will offer up to 160 daily departures from Boston to 55 destinations, a 20 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic levels. In Sunday’s announcement, Delta Air Lines’ SVP – Network Planning, Joe Esposito, said,
“We’ve strengthened our Boston hub as demand has accelerated, adding about 3,800 more seats a day by next summer than our last peak in 2019. Boston is a fast-growing market with a booming economy, and we’re committed to offering customers significant choice and better convenience when making their travel plans, in addition to Delta’s superior products and experience.”
The new service from Boston to Tel Aviv will complement Delta’s existing service to Amsterdam and Rome, and the return of pre-pandemic levels of service to Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London and Paris. Starting July 11, 2022, the airline will add service from Boston to Baltimore (BWI) and Denver (DEN), while launching new service to San Diego (SAN). BWI flights will operate five time daily with an Embraer 175 featuring 12 First Class, 20 Comfort+ and 44 Main Cabin seats.
