Cathay Pacific Cargo is consolidating and refreshing their comprehensive temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical solution under the name Cathay Pharma. The streamlined solution will make it easier for Pharma customers to identify all possible shipping options.
On Tuesday (November 22, 2022) Cathay Pacific announced that they have refreshed and consolidated their comprehensive solution for pharmaceutical customers under the name Cathay Pharma. The refresh follows years of innovation and expertise to meet the needs of pharmaceutical customers with solution advances such as Ultra Track, the Vaccine Solution and a revamped Priority Solution. The new consolidated solution will make it easier for pharmaceutical customers to identify all possible options for shipments in a more streamlined way.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Cathay Pacific’s Director Cargo, Tom Owen, said,
“With these developments, we felt this was the ideal time to refresh our specialist shipment solution for our pharmaceutical customers. We understand all too well the potential costs in lives and dollars if pharmaceutical shipments don’t arrive in perfect condition, and want to ensure that we continuously improve and adapt to industry trends and developments as they happen.
“With our team of expert handlers and our technologically advanced offering, we are confident that Cathay Pharma is a comprehensive and best-in-class range of specialised and professional air cargo services for temperature-sensitive shipments including life-science deliveries. It is designed to meet exacting customer needs and ensure that high-value and life-saving pharmaceutical shipments arrive in perfect condition.”
The new Cathay Pharma shipping solution has been subdivided into two simplified headings, namely Active and Passive, where Active shipments use containers with ‘active’ thermostatic mechanisms, and Passive shipments use coolants and insulation to maintain temperature. Both options include expedited ground handling and priority tarmac transfers, limiting the risk of temperature excursions while shipments are exposed to ambient outdoor temperatures. Additionally, four temperature ranges are offered to suit the most common pharma shipments, including extended room temperature (ERT): +2°C to +25°C. Cathay Pacific Cargo also offers containers from seven different supplier partners, offering an operating range from -80°C to +40°C, the widest choice in Asia for pharma customers.
Customers booking shipments with Cathay Pharma can follow the shipment’s progress and condition with visibility and 24/7 proactive mitigation from the Operations Control Center (OCC) offered by the Ultra Track service. The feature utilizes Bluetooth data loggers, along with the option of data integration via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which conform to IATA’s ONE Record standards. All aspects of a shipment’s journey at Cathay Pacific Cargo’s Hong Kong hub has been CEIV Pharma-certified since 2017. The carrier also has over 70 qualified pharma centers across their network, and only trained and qualified team members are permitted to handle Cathay Pharma shipments, providing additional assurance to customers.
