David Neeleman’s newest airline, Breeze Airways will take flight on May 27, 2021, with service between Tampa, FL, Charleston, S.C., and Hartford CT. The carrier is building out a robust point-to-point network between underserved U.S. destinations.
On Friday (May 21, 2021), Utah-based Breeze Airways officially opened for business with 39 routes to 16 destinations and one-way fares starting at only $39. Breeze Airways’ founder, serial airline entrepreneur David Neeleman, previously founded Morris Air, WestJet, JetBlue and Azul. The carrier’s first flights will launch on May 27, 2021 with service between Tampa, FL, Charleston, S.C., and Hartford, CT, while additional destinations progressively opening through July. The airline’s fleet will include Embraer E190s, E195s and Airbus A220s. Breeze Airways goal is to merge technology with kindness, while providing nonstop service between underserved routes across the U.S. at affordable fares. The airline’s loyalty program is called BreezePoints and the carrier offers two fares, Nice and Nicer. The Nicer fare includes one complimentary carry-on and one checked bag.
Breeze offers seamless booking with customized flight features through the flybreeze.com website or through the Breeze app, with no change or cancellation fees up to 15 minutes prior to departure. Flights cancelled within 24 hours of booking will be refunded in the original form of payment, while all other cancellations will be refunded in BreezePoints, valid for up to 24 months. Guests will earn 2% of the one-way base fare in BreezePoints for Nice bookings, while Nicer fares will be rewarded with 4% of the one-way base fare in points.
To book a flight, customers simply select the destination, dates and choose one of two fares, Nice or Nicer, and customize their flight experience by adding bags or seat assignments. Next, they create a Guest Account and complete the purchase, automatically earning BreezePoints, which can be used toward future travel. When it’s time to travel, guests can simply log in to their account to access their mobile boarding pass.
Breeze allows one complimentary personal item with the maximum dimensions of 17x13x8 inches, which must fit under the seat in front. Guests are permitted to carry on one bag, which is included with Nicer fares and available for purchase with Nice fares. Likewise, Nicer fares include one checked bag, while Nice fares offer checked bags for purchase. Carry-on and checked bags are available on the website and app for $20 ($25 for flights over 3 hours) and $50 at the airport. Nice seat assignments are available for $10-$30, while Nicer seat assignments are available for $20-$50.
Once onboard, guests will enjoy complimentary water and snacks, while the airline will soon launch enhanced snack and beverage options (including alcoholic beverages) for purchase. Breeze is also currently working on the addition of complimentary streaming movies and television shows.
