On Tuesday (January 11, 2022), Austrian Airlines announced that they are accepting applications through February 13, 2022 for five new mechatronics apprentices in production technology. For the last 25 years apprenticeship training for young people has been a particularly high priority for the carrier. Since 1997, over 200 apprentices have been trained in a variety of technical apprenticeships at Austrian Airlines’ apprenticeship workshop at Vienna Airport’s hangar. The mechatronics technician apprenticeship program was launched in 2019 and is one of the airline’s most popular apprenticeship programs. Currently, 20 young talents are enrolled in the exciting program.

In today’s announcement, Austrian Airlines’ Chief Operating Officer, Francesco Sciortino, said,

“Apprenticeship training is an important and valuable investment in the future. On the one hand, apprentices are our aviation experts of tomorrow, and on the other hand, we want to give young adults perspectives for their professional lives. We are very pleased that we will also be able to offer training as a mechatronics technician in production technology in 2022. Especially in the aviation industry, smooth procedures are unthinkable without professional maintenance staff. We value comprehensive training as well as a high level of quality.”

As previously mentioned, the carrier is accepting applications through February 13, 2022, with the apprenticeship starting next September. The 3.5-year mechatronics training can be combined with the Austrian Matura and the trainees will benefit from the experience and professionalism of Austrian Airlines’ technicians. In addition to the practical on the job training, in the specialist workshops and in aircraft maintenance, the apprenticeship includes specialist Cat. A training, which specifically prepares apprentices for their future work environment. Theoretical training at the vocational school, as well as specialist seminars are also included.

Applicants should have completed their 9th year of school, have excellent German and English language skills and an interest in aviation. They should also possess manual dexterity, technical affinity, a willingness to work hard and a sense of responsibility. Applications can be submitted via the Austrian Airlines website.
