American Airlines Announces New Codeshare Agreement With Royal Air Maroc

American Airlines announced Friday that they have launched a codeshare partnership with Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s largest airline. The agreement will be effective December 26, 2019, proving customers of both airlines extensive network options.

Today, American Airlines announced a new codeshare agreement with Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s largest airline. Customers traveling to Morocco will have new options from December 26, 2019. American Airlines' customers will be able to seamlessly purchase select Royal Air Maroc flights to Casablanca, Morocco (CMN) and connect to Marrakech (RAK) starting today for travel beginning December 26th. The codeshare partnership will be further expanded to additional cities across the African continent in early 2020. In Friday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Vice President of Network Strategy, Vasu Raja said,


“Royal Air Maroc is a premier African carrier and their hub in Casablanca is perfectly situated to offer our customers convenient connections between North America and 40 destinations throughout Africa. With Royal Air Maroc’s upcoming entry into the oneworld® alliance and our recently announced service between Philadelphia and Casablanca, we are committed to creating more opportunities for our customers to visit unique destinations in Africa.”


In early 2020, American Airlines’ customers will be able to book popular African destinations including Abijan, Cote d’Ivoire (ABK), Accra, Greece (ACC), Lagos, Nigeria (LOS), Luanda, Angola (LAD) and Monrovia, Liberia (ROB). Likewise, starting December 26th the new codeshare agreement will provide Royal Air Maroc’s customers access to American’s expansive domestic network. As previously announced, American Airlines will provide the only non-stop seasonal service to Morocco starting June 4, 2020 with three weekly flights between Philadelphia (PHL) and Casablanca (CMN).


American Airlines operates 6,800 daily flights to over 365 destinations in 61 countries. The airline has major hub operations in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington DC. American Airlines serves over 200M customers annually and has invested $28B in its products, people and guest experience since 2013. The carrier now operates the youngest fleet among US network carriers.
