Air Lease Corporation Announces the Placement of Four Airbus A320neos With Volaris

Air Lease Corporation has placed four new Airbus A320neos with Mexican ultra- low-cost carrier Volaris. Two of the aircraft are from ALC’s order book with Boeing, while two more are from sale and leasebacks from a third party by one of the company’s management vehicles.

On Monday (April 26, 2021), Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced the placement of four new Airbus A320neos with Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier Volaris. Two of the aircraft are from ALC’s order book with Airbus and two are from sale-leasebacks by a third party via one of the lessor’s management vehicles. The aircraft will be delivered to Volaris during the remainder second quarter of 2021.


In Monday’s announcement, Air Lease Corporation’s President and Chief Executive Officer, John L. Plueger, said,

“ALC is pleased to further expand its relationship with Volaris, Mexico’s largest airline. These aircraft will play a key role satisfying the strong summer traffic demand that Volaris is forecasting. Further, these transactions illustrate another successful pairing of a sale-leaseback under our management business combined with direct placements from ALC’s order book.”

Since launching operations in March 2006, Volaris has increased their network from five to 170 routes and the company’s fleet has grown from four to 87 aircraft. Mexico City-based Volaris offers over 410 daily departures connecting 43 cities in Mexico and 12 cities in the U.S. The company’s target market is customers visiting family and friends as well as cost-conscious business and leisure travelers.
