AerCap Announces Order for 15 Additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners

AerCap has today announced an order for 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, increasing their 787 Family fleet to approximately 140 aircraft.

On Tuesday (July 21, 2026), AerCap Holdings announced a new direct order for 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, which will increase the lessor’s fleet of 787 aircraft to approximately 140. The announcement was made at the 2026 Farnborough International Air Show, and the aircraft are scheduled for delivery through 2033. AerCap has selected GE Aerospace’s GEnx-1B engines to power the 15 Boeing 787 aircraft. Today’s agreement includes substitution rights to the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, providing AerCap with the flexibility to switch to the larger aircraft variant as it seeks to meet the evolving needs of its customers.


In Tuesday’s announcement, AerCap’s CEO, Aengus Kelly, said,

As demand for modern, fuel-efficient widebody aircraft continues to grow, this transaction enables us to provide our customers with greater access to one of the industry’s most versatile and sought-after aircraft families, powered by the proven GEnx platform. The 787 has consistently demonstrated strong operating economics and exceptional performance across a wide range of route networks.”


Also commenting on the incremental 787-9 order, Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ President and CEO, Stephanie Pope, said,
