Virgin Australia Announces the Appointment of Dave Emerson as Chief Commercial Officer

Virgin Australia has announced the appointment of Dave Emerson as the airline’s new Chief Commercial Officer. In his new role, he will join the carrier’s Executive Leadership Team overseeing the company’s business transformation.

On Wednesday (June 9, 2021), Virgin Australia announced the appointment of Dave Emerson as the airline’s new Chief Commercial Officer. Mr. Emerson is currently a Senior Partner at the consulting firm Bain and Company, and he will succeed Virgin Australia’s current CCO, John MacLeod, who announced his retirement at the start of this year. In his new role, Dave Emerson will join the airline’s Executive Leadership Team, which is currently overseeing the company’s transformation. Mr. Emerson starts his new role in Brisbane effective immediately, where he will oversee Virgin Australia’s commercial strategy, revenue management, sales, distribution and marketing.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Virgin Australia’s CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka, said,

“Dave has earned an international reputation for excellence while advising dozens of major airlines in all major geographies globally, and I am delighted he will be joining our Executive leadership team. On behalf of the entire Virgin Australia Team, I want to sincerely thank John for the important role he has played and all that he has achieved, and wish him the best in his retirement.”

Prior to his recent work with Virgin Australia on behalf of Bain and Company, Mr. Emerson Led the consulting firm’s global airlines practice, and has over 25 years of experience in the aviation and tourism industries.
