Yesterday (June 9, 2020) Swoop announced their summer 2020 domestic schedule, reaffirming their commitment to offer Canadians ultra-low fares. The carrier’s summer schedule will run from July 1st to September 13, 2020 and will include a route and capacity increase representing 70 percent more available seats versus May 2020. As a result of the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Swoop has postponed the start of planned seasonal service to Victoria, Kelowna, Charlottetown, Moncton and St. John’s. Additionally, the carrier will continue their current suspension of service to London (Ontario) and Winnipeg until October 24, 2020 and international and transborder services will remain suspended until September 13, 2020. In Tuesday’s announcement, Swoop’s Head of Commercial, Bert van der Stege, said in part,

“It is through the hard work and dedication of teams across Swoop that we remain committed to our mission of making air travel more affordable and accessible for Canadians. Our affordable airfare, along with our strict health and safety protocols, will help bring our travellers back to the skies along with the economic benefits that air transportation delivers for communities and businesses.”

Regarding the postponement of some planned seasonal services, Mr. van der Stege added,

“We understand and share our travellers’ disappointment in this news. Swoop is committed to working closely and collaboratively with out strategic airport partners to ensure Canadians have critical access to affordable air travel. We thank all our travellers, Swoopsters, valued airport partners and industry colleagues for their support during this time.”
