Southwest Airlines Announces New Service to Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Southwest Airlines announced new service to Steamboat Springs, Colorado on Monday. The carrier will begin daily nonstop service from Denver to the Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN) by the end of 2020.

On Monday (February 24, 2020), Southwest airlines announced new service to steamboat Springs, Colorado. The daily nonstop service, which will initially be launched from Denver by the end of 2020, will serve Steamboat Springs through the Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN). In Monday’s announcement, Southwest Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, Adam Decaire said,

“Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, or just enjoy a winter wonderland, Steamboat Springs has something for everyone, and now you’ll be able to reach the region on Southwest with a short, easy flight from Denver. We’re looking forward to bringing our world famous Hospitality paired with Customer-friendly policies like skis and snowboards fly free closer to the slopes of the Rocky mountains later this year.”

Also commenting on yesterday’s announcement, Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Rob Perlman added,

“We are thrilled about Southwest Airlines’ intent to serve Steamboat into HDN starting winter 2020/2021. What an ideal partner to bring more skiers and riders to experience Steamboat’s famous Champagne Powder®snow. Dallas-based Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) has distinguished itself by offering competitive fares that include “frills” such as free checked and carry-on bags. The airline’s 60,000 employees service over 130M customers annually with 4,000 daily departures to more than 101 U.S. and ten international destinations, during peak travel seasons. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, based on the number of originating passengers boarded, Southwest has been the largest U.S. domestic carrier since 2003.
