SAS Appoints Ann-Sofie Hörlin as New Head of Sustainability

SAS has today announced the appointment of Ann-Sofie Hörlin as the carrier’s Head of Sustainability. Ms. Hörlin has extensive sustainability experience within the aviation industry, serving most recently as the Head of Sustainability for Malmö Aviation and BRA.

On Thursday (April 7, 2022), SAS announced the appointment of Ann-Sofie Hörlin as the company’s new Head of Sustainability. Ms. Hörlin has vast sustainability experience in the aviation industry, most recently serving as the Head of Sustainability for Malmö Aviation and BRA. In recent years, she has been working as an Investment Manager at Almi Invest, and as also served on the boards of several growth companies. Over the past decade, SAS has been spearheading the efforts to make air travel more sustainable, with the carrier’s ongoing efforts previously being led by Lars Andersen Resare, who has left the company for outside opportunities.

In today’s announcment, SAS’ Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff, Carina Malmgren Heander, said,

“I am very pleased to welcome Ann-Sofie Hörlin to SAS. Ann-Sofie will bring extensive experience from sustainability work to our company, and she will be absolutely instrumental in driving SAS’ ambitious sustainability agenda to reduce SAS CO2 emissions with 25% by 2025.”

Also commenting on her new sustainability role at SAS, Ann-Sofie Hörlin, said,

“I am really looking forward to returning to the aviation industry and continue SAS’ sustainability journey, reducing climate impact and improving our sustainability position. We all have to contribute to the sustainable development goals to achieve a better world, where aviation has its natural place.”

SAS is the leading airline in Scandinavia, normally carrying over 30 million passengers annually from its main hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm to 125 destinations in Europe, the US and Asia (pre-pandemic figures). The company has targeted a reduction in carbon emissions by 25 percent by 2025, compared to 2005 levels, and hopes to transition to 100% biofuel for domestic flights by 2030. SAS also offers ground handling services, technical maintenance and cargo services. The carrier is a founding member of the Star Alliance, which offers an extensive global network.
