Lufthansa announced on Thursday that they will temporarily decommission their entire A340-600 fleet. Three of the long-haul aircraft have already been flown to Tereul in northeastern Spain for storage and will be joined by 14 additional aircraft in the coming weeks.
Today, Lufthansa announced that they will temporarily decommission their entire fleet of 17 Airbus A340-600 aircraft. Three of the aircraft have already been flown to Tereul in northeastern Spain and the rest of the fleet will be decommissioned over the next 2-3 months. The aircraft will not operate in regularly scheduled service during the next year to year and a half. Lufthansa will determine whether they will reactivate a maximum of ten of the aircraft at a future stage in time. Tereul Airport is located in northeast Spain between Zaragoza and Valencia and offers an ideal environment for storing aircraft with around 240 days of sunshine annually and little rain.
