Lufthansa announced on Wednesday an expansion of their tourism strategy with 15 new destinations from Frankfurt for their summer 2021 flight program. The carrier will add popular holiday destinations in Greece, Spain, Egypt, Croatia, Cyprus, Italy, Tunisia and Bulgaria.
On Wednesday (September 16, 2020), Lufthansa announced an expansion of their tourism strategy with 15 new destinations from Frankfurt for summer 2021. The carrier will focus on popular sunny destinations which are holidaymaker favorites. Lufthansa’s offer to Greece will include service to Chania/Crete, Mykonos, Kos, Kavala/Thrace and Preveza/Peloponnese. For those wishing to visit Spain, the airline is carrying over winter 2020/21 destinations through the summer including service to Jerez de la Frontera, Canary Islands and Tenerife. Additional destinations include Hurghada (Egypt), Paphos (Cyprus), Rijeka (Croatia), Lamezia Terme (Italy), Djerba (Tunisia) and Varna (Bulgaria). Lufthansa has scheduled these flights at convenient times for holidaymakers with early morning departures from Frankfurt and evening return flights. In Wednesday’s announcement, Deutsche Lufthansa AG Executive Board Member, Harry Hohmeister, said,
“Never before have we included so many new vacation destinations in our program. This is our response to the wishes of our customers. The demand for vacation and leisure trips is recovering much faster than that for business trips. With Lufthansa, we already have a great and longstanding deal of expertise in tourist offers and we are now resolutely expanding this as part of our strategy.”
For summer 2021, Lufthansa will deploy five additional aircraft and offer approximately 70 weekly connections to 29 purely tourist destinations, a year-over year increase of 15 new holiday choices. The carrier’s focus on expanding their tourist offer precedes the pandemic as Lufthansa has been offering numerous additional holiday destinations since July 2019. All the announced flights are now bookable, and tickets purchased prior to December 31, 2020 can be rebooked as many times as desired free of charge. Additional charges may apply if the original booking class is no longer available.
