JetBlue Adds 24 New Routes in Select Markets With Increasing Leisure Demand Potential

JetBlue announced on Thursday that later this year they will add 24 new routes to and from focus cities, Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America. The carrier will also launch transcontinental service between Las Vegas and Richmond from December 18, 2020.

On Thursday (September 10, 2020), JetBlue announced they will add 24 new routes by the end of the year aimed of generating cash and capturing traffic. The new routes will complement the carrier’s focus city strategy in Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as expand the airline’s transcontinental offering. JetBlue has carefully evaluated each market in anticipation of an increase in leisure traffic and the new flights will take off in November and December. JetBlue customers can book tickets starting today and the carrier has extended their ‘Go Back and Forth With Confidence Initiative’ until February 28, 2021. The initiative waives all change and cancellation fees for all fares, including Blue Basic.

In Thursday’s announcement, JetBlue’s Head of Revenue and Planning, Scott Laurence, said,

“This is the latest example of JetBlue’s ability to be nimble and play offense as we quickly adjust to new customer behaviors and booking patterns. This latest series of new routes – even in the current environment – advances our revised network strategy, returns more aircraft to the skies and doubles down on our ability to generate more cash sooner.”

JetBlue is New York’s Hometown Airline® and usually operates over 1,000 daily flights to around 100 destinations in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America. The New York-based airline carries more than 42 million passengers annually and is a leading carrier in Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, San Juan and Los Angeles.
