On Thursday (January 14, 2021), the Iberia Group announced the delivery of the first shipment of Moderna vaccines to the Canary islands and Melilla. Yesterday, the first shipments were carried between Madrid and Gran Canaria on Iberia Express Flight IB3826 and on another Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum flight from Malaga to Melilla, for a total of 13,200 doses. IAG Cargo has protocols in place for the transport and treatment of pharmaceutical materials at a ‘Constant Climate’ including refrigerated trucks for the transfer of temperature-critical shipments between the terminal and aircraft, terminal storage facilities and temperature-controlled warehouses. In 2019, IAG Cargo inaugurated a new center at the Madrid Cargo Terminal specializing in the treatment of pharmaceutical products. To date, the company has shipped over one million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine globally via their cargo terminals in Madrid, London and Dublin.
