Delta Air Lines Introduces Antimicrobial Bins at TSA Security Checkpoints in Five Hubs

Delta Air Lines announced on Wednesday that they have added a new layer of protection by introducing antimicrobial bins at TSA checkpoints in five U.S. hubs. The new bins will be rolled out this month at Atlanta, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Los Angeles and New York (LGA & JFK).

Today (September 9, 2020), Delta Air Lines announced that in partnership with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) they are rolling out antimicrobial bins at five hubs. The new bins will be rolled out at the automated TSA security checkpoint lanes at Atlanta, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Los Angeles and New York (La Guardia and JFK) starting this week and will continue throughout September. The carrier will evaluate expanding the program to other gateways. The sleek black bins contain built-in antimicrobial technology which prevents the spread of a broad spectrum of microbes throughout the bin’s lifecycle. The new innovation builds on the ‘Delta CareStandard’ and expands the carrier’s partnership with the TSA which has launched the first biometric terminal and is working to expedite international security lines in Atlanta.

Delta’s new Global Cleanliness Division is working with partners such as RB, makers of Lysol® to advance safety and cleanliness protocols and developing future disinfecting solutions for both the airport and onboard experience. The carrier has also blocked all middle seats until January 2021 and changes their aircraft HEPA filters twice as often as recommended. These updates build on Delta’s robust Delta CareStandard program which provides multiple layers of protection both at the airport and onboard. Some airport protections include touchless check-in with the Delta app, plexiglass shields at check-in counters, distancing markers, hand sanitizing stations and electrostatic spraying. Delta also recently announced the installation of hand sanitizing stations onboard their aircraft.
