Cebu Pacific Takes Delivery of First of 16 Airbus A330neos on Order

Cebu Pacific has received their first Airbus A330neo as they begin their widebody modernization program. The aircraft is configured in a 459-seat single class layout and will be operated on trunk routes in the Philippines and Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

On Monday (November 29, 2021), Airbus announced that Cebu Pacific has taken delivery of their first Airbus A330neo, as the carrier begins their widebody fleet modernization program. The airline’s new A330neo is configured in a single-class 459 seat layout and will be operated on trunk routes within the Philippines and the rest of Asia, as well as on long-haul services to Australia and the Middle East. Cebu Pacific has ordered a total of 16 A330neos, and also has 16 A320neos and 22 A321neos outstanding to be delivered. Currently, the airline operates a total of 50 Airbus aircraft including 43 A320 Family and seven A330ceos.

In an earlier delivery announcement from Cebu Pacific on Sunday, November 28, 2021, the airline’s Chief Strategy Officer, Alex Reyes, said,

“Cebu Pacific’s first A330neo brings us closer to our target of having an all-Neo fleet by 2027, and shows our commitment to making air travel accessible, while ensuring environmental and social sustainability. We believe that growth and sustainability are not mutually exclusive and should in fact be inclusive if we want to work towards the greater good. This is why we will always choose the greener options – increased aircraft efficiency, reduced noise and carbon emissions, to ensure that more low fares will be available for everyJuan.”

Also commenting on the A330neo delivery, Airbus’ President – Asia-Pacific, Anand Stanley, said,

“We thank and applaud Cebu Pacific for selecting our latest-technology A330neo as part of its fleet modernization drive to fly the greenest aircraft for a sustainable future. The A330neo is the first aircraft in the world already certified to comply with ICAO’s CO2 emissions standards beyond 2028. The airline will benefit from the aircraft’s step-change in performance and economics, while maintaining passenger comfort and lowest operating costs.”

The Airbus A330neo offers a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn compared to previous generation aircraft, along with a similar reduction in CO2 emissions. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce’s latest generation Trent 7000 engines and features a new composite wing with increased span for superior aerodynamics. The Airbus A330 Family remains the most popular widebody aircraft in history, having received over 1,800 orders as of October 31, 2021.
