On Friday (March 25, 2022), Binter announced the launch of new service between Gran Canaria and Guelmim, Morocco from April 2, 2022. The carrier will offer two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and the one hour twenty-five minute flight will be operated with a 72 passenger ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft. Flights will depart Gran Canaria at 11:00 and the return service will depart Guelmim at 13:10. Between July and September, the Saturday flight schedule will vary. The new service expands Binter’s service to the African continent which started in 2005, with flights to Marrakesh. The carrier currently offers service to Agadir, Dakhla and El Aaiún.

Founded in 1989, Binter began flying in the Canary Islands archipelago with service connecting the islands and a clear focus on public service. In 2005, the airline began to operate flights outside of the Canary Islands with the goal of offering direct connections to other markets. In 2018, the airline began regular service to national destinations, first to Mallorca and Vigo, and later to Pamplona, Zaragoza, Murcia, Santander, Vitoria, Asturias and Jerez de la Frontera. In 2021, Binter also added service to Tarragona.
