Avianca to Launch New Service Between Washington D.C. and San José, Costa Rica

From July 16, 2022, Avianca will launch four weekly flights on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between Washington-Dulles and San José, Costa Rica. The new service expands the carrier’s network from Dulles to 28 weekly flights.

On Tuesday (May 10, 2022), Avianca announced the launch of four weekly flights between Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington, D.C. and Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica. Flights will operate on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting July 16, 2022. With the added flights to San José, Avianca will now offer 28 weekly flights from IAD, including service to Guatemala City, San Salvador (El Salvador), and Bogota (Colombia). The new route will add over 1,800 monthly seats between the capitals of the U.S. and Costa Rica.

In Tuesday’s announcment, Avianca’s Director of Sales for North America, Central America and the Caribbean, Rolando Damas, said,

“Costa Rica is a very attractive destination for our clients. Not only for the Latino community in the United States, but also for U.S. travelers who are increasingly attracted to Costa Rica's biodiversity and captivating tourist destinations. In this sense, we are offering a direct and more convenient travel offer for all those who wish to visit the country.”

Avianca operates the largest network in Colombia, and one of the largest in Latin America with 128 routes and over 3,800 weekly flights, connecting guests to more than 65 destinations in Latin America, the United States, Canada and Europe.
