Asiana Airlines Receives Eleventh Flagship Long-Haul Airbus A350-900

The Star Alliance announced Wednesday that Asiana Airlines has received their eleventh Airbus A350-900, which is now the carrier’s flagship long-haul model. Introduced into the Asiana fleet in 2017, the airline will have a total of thirteen A350s by the end of 2020.

Yesterday, The Star Alliance announced that Asiana Airlines has received their eleventh Airbus A350-900, which is now their flagship long-haul model. The airline received their first A350 in 2017 and will have a total of thirteen of the widebodies in their fleet by the end of 2020. Asiana’s 11th A350-900 entered service on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 and is now deployed on four routes to the Americas including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle as well as European routes to London, Paris and Lisbon. Asiana has also deployed their flagship A350s on routes to Singapore, Jakarta and Tokyo-Narita. With the introduction of new long-haul aircraft to their fleet, Asiana is pioneering long-distance routes to destinations such as Cairo, Melbourne, Lisbon.

Asiana’s Airbus A350-900s provide a fuel reduction of up to 25% as compared to previous generation aircraft they replace and have onboard WiFi along with a HEPA air filtration system which fully replenishes fresh cabin air every two to three minutes. Late last year, Asiana Airlines was acquired by South Korean construction firm HDC Hyundai Development for US$2.2B.
