Air Canada Cargo Touches Down in Basel, Switzerland for the First Time

Air Canada Cargo’s first freighter flight between Toronto and Basel, Switzerland touched down in on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Basel is one of Europe’s premier pharmaceutical hubs, and is new connected to Air Canada’s extensive network via Toronto.

On Thursday (April 20, 2023), Air Canada Cargo celebrated the completion of their inaugural flight between Toronto and Basel, Switzerland, one of Europe’s premier pharmaceutical hubs. The route will operate twice weekly with a dedicated Air Canada Boeing 767 freighter. Basel is the latest addition to Air Canada Cargo’s global freighter network, following recently launched freighter services to Liege in Belgium, Dallas, Atlanta and Bogota.

In Thursday’s announcement, Air Canada Cargo’s Managing Director, Matthieu Casey, said,

“We are excited to be returning to Basel, this time with our freighters, to serve a key market in Europe for pharmaceuticals. The capability of our freighters, combined with our temperature-controlled containers and cool chain facility at our Toronto global hub position us to serve this critical market with reliable, year-round service, and ensure these important shipments can move safely and in a timely manner throughout our global network.”
